2025 Porsche Macan Electric Competitor Comparison with Specs & Photos
The Macan Electric has added an exciting new dimension to the already outstanding Macan nameplate. Not only does the Macan Electric offer the same luxury and superb driving dynamics you’ve come to expect from the Macan, but without the trips to the gas station, it also offers even more horsepower and a quicker 0-60 time. That makes for quite an appealing vehicle, but it’s not the only option out there, electric luxury SUVs have become quite popular, and the Macan Electric has several competitors. So we put together a guide to show how they stack up.

We’re starting our comparisons with the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, which is very similar to the Macan Electric in terms of size and starting price. It is not, however, very similar when it comes to performance, with a very clear horsepower advantage for the Macan Electric that leaves a 1.5-second gap between the two in the 0-60 times. The Macan Electric will also allow you to charge quicker, thanks to the much higher DC charging rate that comes with Porsche’s highly advanced battery architecture. That means that even though the Macan Electric has a bigger battery to charge.you can get to an 80% charge 11 minutes sooner than you can in the Mercedes-Benz.
The Macan Electric gives you noticeably more cargo space in the back, and the fact that the Macan Electric is rated for towing at all is nice – but it’s even nicer that it’s 4,400 pounds – an impressively high rating for any compact SUV – gas or electric. Also nice is that All Wheel Drive is standard on the Macan Electric, and although All Wheel Drive is available as an option on the EQE 350 – the AWD version costs the same as the rear-wheel version. How is that possible you ask? Because choosing the AWD version means you receive a smaller battery. If you want the larger 96 kW battery and AWD at the same time in the EQE, that will cost you an extra $11,600. Similarly, the EQE is available with air suspension, but it will also cost you extra, even though it’s a standard feature on the Macan Electric. So, despite the similar starting price, you don’t get anywhere near the same equipment on the EQE that you do on the Macan Electric, unless you pay considerably more.

To highlight the higher-performance Macan Turbo Electric, we figured we would compare it to Audi’s most powerful electric SUV, the SQ8 e-tron. The first thing to notice is that Audi’s most powerful electric SUV falls well short of the most powerful Porsche electric SUV. The 134-horsepower advantage that the Macan Electric enjoys translates into a 0-60 time that’s more than a full second quicker, although the substantial weight difference is also a contributing factor in this quicker acceleration. Unsurprisingly, the Porsche also enjoys a much higher top speed, just one more indicator that Porsche took the performance of the Macan Electric much more seriously than the competition did.
To go with the fast driving, you also get faster charging with the Porsche. This is nice to have with DC fast charging, but for Level 2 home AC charging, the difference is so large that you might be forced to use the SQ8 more cautiously than you would the Macan Electric. Customization is a lot easier for the Macan Electric too, even when it comes to setting up your seat exactly the way you want it. But beyond that, you have lots more paint and wheel options for the Porsche, which will help you stand out better.

For our last comparison, we’ll look at the BMW iX, which appears at first to be incredibly similar to the Macan Electric. Though the price is a bit more, and the horsepower rating a bit less, they’re still close. That is, until you see the 0-60 times, where the Porsche is quicker by a half second, a noticeable performance gap for two vehicles that otherwise seem so similar. Given the difference in 0-60 times, it’s probably not surprising that the Macan Electric has a higher top speed as well, although it still might be surprising just how much faster it is. Coming to a stop is quicker in the Porsche too, thanks to the much bigger brakes. In fact, the BMW’s are small enough that the front rotors on the iX are smaller than the back rotors on the Macan Electric, even on the M60 performance model we’re comparing here.
Range estimates put the iX and Macan Electric on similar footing, and possibly even identical ratings. This is especially interesting because the iX actually has a slightly bigger battery, yet it offers no advantages for range or power. It mostly just seems to add up to a bunch of extra weight on the BMW. The weight advantage you get with the Macan Electric is good for handling, but even better is the available rear-axle steering, which cuts the turning diameter down from 39.7 feet to 36.4 feet. Either one would beat the 40.4 feet you would get with the iX, but rear-axle steering just gives you a bit more of an advantage. And to help you enjoy this advantage, Porsche has added a passenger-side infotainment screen to the options list, so the passenger can deal with the music selection while you enjoy the superb handling. Lastly, the chart shows a real advantage for the Porsche when it comes to customization, but this only scratches the surface. There are a number of other customization options that we didn’t even list because BMW doesn’t offer them at all. Porsche lets you choose both the design and the color of your wheels, the color of your seatbelts, deviated leather seat centers, and a whole range of seat embroidery options. When you want to make your vehicle truly your own, Porsche gives you the tools to do so in a way that other manufacturers simply can’t compete with.
Winner — Porsche Macan Electric
The Macan Electric isn’t technically the only vehicle in its class, but it’s clear that the competition lags behind Porsche in several key areas. Performance is obviously the big standout, but charging, luxury, and style are all areas where Porsche also holds a commanding lead. Only Porsche could build an SUV as exciting as the Macan, and now the Macan Electric carries the idea even further. Let us help you find your Macan Electric today.
